Come along with me and put your mind at ease."

Four days before the game and I'm 20 miles outside of Oxford, Miss., with my best friend. Don't hate me if I never come back.
Why leave so early? Check out photos from the various restaurants and pubs around Ole Miss and you'll know.
Some random musings from the road (and a shout-out to The King, whose hometown of Tupelo we passed through):
We stopped for gas at a Shell station in the fine metropolis of Fair Play, S.C. The thought hit me as we were filling up -- with the recent unpleasantness last weekend in nearby Clemson, I'm surprised all the Shells haven't been renamed.
We got a burger at the Five Guys in Banks Crossing, Ga., a mere 30 miles from Athens, Ga., and a perfect place for a good grease injection. That was followed by witnessing a near-cutting in Anniston, Ala., where some woman was very, very angry that someone disregarded her intention to get to the gas pump first.
Why is it that people who ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles also wear shirts, bandannas, pants, jackets, etc. with the Harley-Davidson logo proudly adorned on them? Isn't it kind of obvious they like the brand already?
Once we crossed the Alabama state line, we each immediately felt a surge of confidence. Being born, raised and educated in the great state of South Carolina, we immediately felt smarter.
Crossing into Mississippi on 278, stop at the Welcome Center. There's a dear old woman handing out free Cokes inside.
Now that I've seen a lot more of Mississippi, it's much too nice a state to deserve Starkville.
We passed the North Mississippi Mental Health Facility. Probably just a bunch of ole boys who dared claim that Allis-Chalmers tractors were better than John Deeres.
There is a God. I was getting real concerned until I saw the first Waffle House sign in Mississippi ... one mile from the hotel.
