Color me impressed

Take all of your money from the stock market, bank or that mayonnaise jar buried by the swingset and invest it in canned goods and 12 gauge ammunition. You'll thank me in two years ...
The election promoted one of the most entertaining Steve Spurrier press conferences in recent memory on Tuesday, Spurrier cracking one-liners without seeming to realize it and right tackle Justin Sorensen taking advantage of some media members' ignorance.
Good to see, really. If Spurrier had professed anxiety about facing one of the SEC's worst defenses, I would have been concerned that all of that confidence the Gamecocks said they gained from beating Tennessee would have been a false positive.
Several players -- and not just football, since Devan Downey told me on Monday that he was headed home to Chester after practice so he could vote on Tuesday -- said they voted either on Tuesday or by absentee. Eric Norwood voted for Obama and I hear Cliff Matthews and Kenny McKinley each cast a ballot.
Good for them. I'm glad to see young men who are up to their ears in schoolwork, football practice and carrying the expectations of their rabid fan base can still get out and do their civic duty.
Sorensen kindly corrected a reporter who asked who he voted for by explaining his Canadian heritage. Spurrier said he was cutting out of the building by 6 p.m. to go vote at a local elementary school.
Now that that's out of the way, maybe we can all go back to focusing on Arkansas. Don't know about you, but I'd love to be in Tampa on New Year's Eve.

A bit of advice, dear children, from your kindly Uncle Dave ...
