Mama said there'd be days like this

Somebody’s gonna owe me a cold one after Saturday.
9 a.m. – Junior Day at Williams-Brice Stadium, talking to a group of 17-year-olds who may or may not call Columbia their happy home from 2010-13 and could send waves of people either jumping off cliffs or sending an extra donation to their church.
2 p.m. – Opening Day, baseball season, at a brand-new ballpark. Over 8,200 people wondering just what the heck Ray Tanner is cooking over at the locker room. Fear not the preseason projections – I doubt anybody picked the Rays to win the pennant last year, either.
7 p.m. – Gamecocks vs. Razorbacks, Colonial Life Arena. USC attempts to win its 19th game and if all goes well, will be in just a two-way tie for first place in the SEC East.
I’m on every bit of it, along with the other fearless members of GamecockCentral.com.
I’m reminded of the old FBI training motto.
“Hurt.
Agony.
Pain.
LOVE IT.”
After mowing grass, roofing barns, cutting meat, stocking shelves, mopping floors, setting up ballrooms, etc., I can say this about the noble world of journalism.
I could have to work for a living.
Talk to you on Sunday, if I still have a pulse.

I’ll keep this one short and sweet, mostly because I’m still feeling every one of the 1,900 miles I drove last week.
