David Cloninger's Blog - Who Else?

Greetings from Tampa, Part II

"It's a beautiful day."
---------------- U2

Here in lovely Tampa, Fla., checking out the first day of the SEC tournament. If halftime stats mean anything, looks like it'll be USC and Mississippi State tomorrow.

Besides being Dale Murphy's birthday, I see Clemson has lost to 11-18 Georgia Tech in the ACC tournament. Excuse me while I laugh myself sick.

It doesn't really hurt USC's RPI, because Baylor beat Kansas earlier today. That really helps the Gamecocks, even with the Tigers losing to 11-18 Georgia Tech (it bears repeating).

I have just seen the ugliest tattoo of all time, and it was on a moderately attractive Kentucky fan. You know those mudflaps truckers have with the sitting women on them? Paul Westerburg once wrote a song about them called, "Silver Naked Ladies?"

This girl had those symbols, back-to-back between her shoulder blades. Awful. And I've seen some awful tattoos.

Also talked with a couple of buddies who cover Georgia and Alabama. Just from us shooting the breeze, I heard some names that may pop up in those two coaching searches. THESE ARE IN NO WAY OFFICIAL, but the Bulldogs may go for Oklahoma's Jeff Capel, Virginia Commonwealth's Anthony Grant or Xavier's Sean Miller, while the Crimson Tide may reach out to Missouri's Mike Anderson or UAB's Mike Davis.

Talk to you later.
