Hoops season wrapup tidbits

-- Horn said he has spoken with Devan Downey about the guard's NBA prospects but hasn't heard a decision from Downey on whether to stay or go. Horn said he has advised Downey to take in all of the information possible and he will guide Downey through the process, but will not push him to stay for one more season. Obviously, he would love to have Downey back but Horn said his job is to simply be there for Downey, whatever his decision may be.
-- Horn has four recruits for next year, two of which -- Ramon Galloway and Lakeem Jackson -- have already signed letters-of-intent. Depending on what happens with Downey, Horn could add another player.
Horn said he has already spoken with guard Robert Wilder, explaining his rise to scholarship player this year was a one-year contract. Wilder could remain on scholarship for next year, but if there's a need to get another player, he could be moved back to walk-on status.
-- Horn said he is familiar with the basketball talents of football recruit Alshon Jeffery, who was a two-sport standout at Calhoun County High School. The possibility of Jeffery playing basketball at USC has been broached by Jeffery and Horn said that would be something the Gamecocks could look at, but only if football coach Steve Spurrier was comfortable with it.

Just got back from talking with Darrin Horn at his end-of-season wrapup. I'll have a massive wrapup package in the next few days, but for now, a few important tidbits.
